About Us

BackYard started as an idea our founder developed while coaching Little League Baseball in Jackson, Mississippi. As a coach he felt just as passionate teaching the game to young athletes as he did playing. Looking back, he understands the impact youth sports made on his life.  “You would always dream of making big plays like those you saw on TV. Everyone was excited to compete, no matter where we were or what we played. It was all about having fun and being the best. Coaching allowed him to witness the same excitement and determination in his players. The name “BackYard” represents all the times during his youth that he would play outside in the backyard and mimic being one of the superstars he admired on TV. Throwing touchdown passes to himself, counting down to make the game winning shot, and hitting rocks over the fence were daily norms. “A ball and my backyard was all I needed to follow my dreams.” Though he loved the game, one thing he was missing was training. He did not have the resources to afford extra lessons outside of team practice nor did he have a parent who could coach him up during the off season.  The competitive increase in the sports industry has directly impacted the cost to parents. Remembering his childhood, this urged him to create a space where student athletes can train, learn, and compete at an affordable cost. Thus, he created “BackYard”, a place where athletes can compete and develop skills to follow their dreams.

Our Mission

BackYard’s mission is to be a place where athletes of all ages will have the support of someone encouraging, training, strengthening, and crafting their talents physically and mentally.

Our Vision

BackYard strides to become a multisport complex that develop student athletes during the off season. Our vision is to prepare athletes for the next level of competition. This ranges from youth sports, to middle/high school, and eventually college. Skill development, strength and conditioning, sports IQ, and academic support will all be offered to better our members in the community.
